What is tax-free?

Tax-free refers to not having to pay taxes that would normally have to be paid under special conditions which varies by country. In Japan, tax exemption applies for purchases of consumable items from JPY 5,000 to JPY 500,000 before tax, and of general items more than JPY 5,000 before tax.
